Yes, for all LATCH.IT Compartment Locks, you are able to remove the tubular key in the open AND closed positions.
If you run into trouble where the key is stuck inside the compartment lock or it is not coming out in a certain position, then double check the install order of all components within the compartment lock. See install instructions on document attached below.
